Is this evolution?

We have gone from 

four legged apes 

Hiding in caves

To humans who can fly to the moon and back 

And yet

We can’t put down our fists for even a moment?

Put our differences aside?

We used to fight for our food

And now we can simply walk into a store

But yet 

We still have to fight

For our basic rights? 

We used to wear clothes made out of animal hides

And now we have clothes

Made out of every material imaginable

From velvet to cotton to plastic 

But yet

We can’t keep garbage out of our oceans?

We used to form spears for hunting 

And now we have every defense system possible

But yet

We can’t keep guns

Violence

And death

Out of children’s schools?

Why are we worse off

Than we were 

Centuries ago? 

This is not evolution

But rather unchecked ambition.
