Water Holds Memory by Orly Pearlman

Water holds memory

It knows when something is wrong,

It can feel the bite of words

The tsunami of emotions

The sting of actions.

Maybe it hurts

When people step in it

Or dump trash into its beauty.

Maybe it just wants to be heard

To be helped

To be listened.

And at the end of the day,

You're 60 percent water

Water that holds memory

That feels pain

That longs to be noticed

That knows when you're hurting.
