Downfall of the Many by Evan Warner

Just like those before him,

Who conquered and ruled

By the blade of a sword,

He set out to control.

Bloodshed was his friend

As he wreaked destruction,

And with his efforts came anew.

Those who subjected were dismantled,

Enslaved and banished

As those who joined him,

Failing to realize their mistake,

Forced into labor that could not be escaped.

But it was not the tyrannical actions,

Nor the revolts of his own subjects

That caused the crumble.

What he failed to understand

Was what also felled his predecessors.

He was but a pawn in a bigger game,

A game in which he knew nothing about.

It was strategy,

With very little brute force,

And so he fell.

Just like the others of barbaric actions

Hastily swallowed by the masses of empires,

There was never a chance that he would prevail.
